A Quick Trip to the Dentist

Nolan had his 6-month check up at the dentist today, and as usual, did fantastic!  The last time he went they didn't actually "clean" his teeth, so I wasn't sure how he would do with the polisher and pick but he did just fine.  No cavities!

I think he was most excited that they had a life-sized Captain America in the room :)  If he could have taken it home with him he would have!  He decided that Captain "A" also needed to get his teeth checked...

He didn't even budge when they examined him and cleaned his teeth.  I guess it helped that there was a  TV on the ceiling :)  He also liked the glasses they gave him to wear.

A clean bill of health and bubbles...a pretty good visit if you ask me!  We headed out to lunch after this, but had to wait 30 minutes for the fluoride rub they put on his teeth to sink in.  Overall, it was a quick and easy visit - let's hope they all go this way!

My Bob the Builder

Nolan received lots of dress up costumes from Santa Claus this year, and still loves putting them on at random times.  He came home today and decided that he need to be "Bob the Builder" today!  It's funny, because I have never watched that show with him, but I guess he has seen it somewhere else.

He was so cute, and very helpful!  He helped me fix all the things in the kitchen that "broke" while I was fixing his dinner.  Now if he could only really remodel the kitchen...

Fully equipped with all of this tools and safety gear!

Mommy + Son Weekend

Anthony took a much-needed trip to Atlanta to see Doug and family this past weekend, so it was just me and little man!

He left Friday, and even though I had the most stressful week at work, Nolan and I had a great time.  We had lots of fun things on the agenda - swim lessons, a birthday party, church and of course play time.

Thankfully, the water was much warmer this past weekend for swim lessons, and Nolan made it through all but about 5 minutes of class. I made sure to keep us moving, which I think helped a lot.  We did a full dunk under water, and he is doing so good!

Coloring his butterfly while I made breakfast before swim lessons.

We made it back home in time for a quick nap and then it was off to a birthday party.  Nolan hadn't seen a lot of these people, but waltzed in like he owned the place (he gets it from his Daddy).  We had a great time, and the party was in such a great spot; our friend's church hall.  The room next to it is used for Sunday School, and had a ton of these movable blocks that are used for seating - or in this case, an indoor monkey gym for the kids!  Nolan had the best time climbing all over them.

The best part was discovering the ping pong table - we were the last ones to leave because we got to playing and were just having so much fun!  He was surprisingly really good for never having played.  We had a couple of passes back and forth where it went 4 or so times!  Makes me think we need one in the gameroom some day...

Decorating his hat at CharGrill...

We had THE most random weather on Sunday, with lots of snow in the morning.  It was the oddest sight to walk into church and see snow flakes melting into puddles of POLLEN.  Only in the south, I suppose!  Nolan did okay in church, but we finally decided to leave when he decided to roll on the floor - ha.  He will get used to it eventually!

Anthony wasn't scheduled to come home until Monday, so I took that day off as a much needed break :)  Actually, I painted the front foyer and office, but it was still fun.  I have an odd sense of humor, I know!

Proof that I let him eat sugar - sometimes :)

It was a great weekend with my little man.  Even though it was busy, and I passed out each night close to his bedtime, I cherish these times with just us.  He is so funny, sweet and loving, and one on one time with him is something that does my heart good :)

Nani and Papa + Swim Lessons

We had the BEST and BUSIEST week/weekend last week, but we are feeling so blessed and just happy after having quality time with all three sets of grandparents this past week.

After Mama and Papa left town, it was a quick switcheroo of the house/bathroom just in time for Nani and Papa D to arrive!  They made it into town around 9:00 on Friday night, along with Skye.  Perfect timing, because Saturday was Nolan's first day of swim lessons at the club.  He only made it through one swim lesson when he was younger because of his ears, so we wanted to give it another try.  Plus, our neighbor was going so we thought the boys would have so much fun together!

Turns out, even though the pool is INSIDE, it can't keep warm when it's 26 degrees outside, so the pool was FREEZING.  The poor kids (and husbands)!  I honestly think Nolan would have made it the whole class if he weren't convulsing, but after about 15 minutes he (and Anthony) were done.  I felt pretty good about it though, because he had no fear and think would have thoroughly enjoyed himself had the pool been warmer.  It was still nice to be able to check out the clubhouse's pool and show Nani and Papa round.  At least we have 3 more classes in this cycle to get used to the water!

Thankfully, Jasmeen was there with her real camera to capture some great shots too.  This is Nolan jumping in for the first time I think - he went all the way under which I didn't expect for his first class!
They practiced swimming and floating on their backs...

Thank goodness Anthony was there to get in...I didn't want to stick a toe in there!

You can tell this picture was of the boys before they got in the water - ha!  They weren't so happy once they got in and got cold!

Such a trooper - the class was a bit unorganized, but Nolan also practiced swimming on this stomach and kicking his legs.  I think that will take a bit more practice though - it's hard to get your legs and feet going at the same time!

He made it through about 15-20 minutes of the 30-minute class, and then he was DONE.  He was so cold he was just convulsing and we didn't think we needed to risk him getting sick just for swim lessons.  I took him in the locker room and got him warmed up and he finally stopped shaking after about 10 minutes.  He was much happier with Papa once he had his regular clothes back on :)
