My Little Cutie

Newest school pictures are in, and I am so excited!  I didn't order the last round, so I am excited to have some new pics of my little man.  The "smile" cracks me up :)

I bought his outfit the day before pictures, and I couldn't believe how well it matched - what are the chances?

Easter 2017 (The Hunt)!

We were up bright and early to make it to church, but also to see what the Easter Bunny brought!  We were, at least, able to sneak Nolan into our room for some cuddle time before he noticed his eggs on the stairs...no one wants to hunt for eggs at 6:00 a.m.!

The Easter Bunny was super silly this year, and hid eggs everywhere!

Iron Man by the toilet...

Superman down the stairs...

And Batman in the office...

The Easter Bunny also took time for a few spelling lessons, and left a pretty sweet basket.  I think Nolan was most excited that all of his eggs contained change, and NOT candy (Mommy and Daddy were too!)  That just meant he got to fill his piggy bank later!

Hop and Bunny Tails...that smart rabbit :)

We fixed a quick breakfast at home, complete with sausage and rabbit cinnamon rolls.  The ones I found on Pinterest were a different kind that what I ended up buying from the store, but we improvised and they still turned out cute (and yummy!)

We got ready for church and Nolan was so excited to take his new Bible with us.  He looks so grown up here, I could cry!

And of course we were running around like crazy to make it to church on time, so I didn't get a picture of Daddy looking all handsome.  Maybe next year!

Easter 2017 (Family Time)!

We had a nice Easter this year, and certainly crammed a whole LOT of stuff into one 3-day weekend!

On Friday, we took Nolan to school armed with Dunkin Donuts for his classmates.  His school was open until 3:00, and they had their egg hunt at 2:00, so we didn't want him to miss that.  Plus, Anthony and I had a HUGE agenda of things to tackle at the house.  We bought mulch several weeks ago, since our front beds were looking a little rough, so Anthony got to work on those right when we got home.

I started in the attic, and worked my way down to the garage - sorting, donating, throwing away a LOT of junk.  It felt so good to get some of that organized, but we have a long way to go!  My main goal of the day was to stain the swingset, but I had to wait for it to get warm enough and for Anthony to weed eat around it.  I completely underestimated how long it would take me, so I quite after about 3 hours at 5:00. I was pooped, and was only a third of the way done - womp womp.

Anyway, I quit because we had a couple of "free" hours while my mom was watching Nolan.  Perfect time to get his Easter basket supplies and enjoy a nice dinner together.  We went to bed knowing we better get some sleep, because Saturday was going to be BUSY!  We drove to Concord for family lunch, and Nolan was in heaven with his sweet cousins.  Aunt Mo's egg-laying chicken was a huge hit too - ha!

Cuddles with Granny...

We enjoyed our time with everyone, and headed home around 6:30.  It was a long drive home, but Nolan kept himself entertained (and awake) until we made it home around 9:45.  It was quick to bed, and a very drowsy Easter Bunny set to work for the next morning's big surprise!

Supper Club - Easter Edition

We had supper club this past weekend, and since it was so close to Easter, we just decided to make it Easter-themed!  You can’t have too many egg hunts, anyway.

Sweet Juliette was Nolan’s date for the night, so I had to make them a cute little table.  Plastic tablecloths were a must, since I knew we would be dying some eggs at some point!  Everyone arrived and got settled in, and we took the kids to the back yard to play while the guys hid the eggs in the front yard.  We had two new friends over, who are expecting a little girl later this year, so Nolan is going to be surrounded by ladies it looks like!

I tried to do some inexpensive decorations, and I think they came out pretty cute.  I made some cute placemats just out of blue paper, and printed some inspiring signs I found free online.  I knew I had a whole bin of Easter décor somewhere, but I couldn't find it in our attic mess.

Nolan ended up with plenty of eggs (not a lot of competition when there are only two of you J), and thankfully most of them were filled with gold fish and teddy grahams instead of sugar.  The weather was beautiful, and we had the kids come in closer to dinner when it was starting to get a little chilly.  They could have stayed outside forever I think!

Showing off his loot...

I kept the menu easy (for my part anyway), and we ended up with ham, corn casserole, pasta salad, green beans and rolls.  I ate WAY too much, but it was so good!  I also make some cupcakes for dessert.  Funny thing, the sunflower cupcake liners were from Nolan’s first Easter – I had just a few left and figured I better use them.  I can’t believe that was 3 years ago – I am going to go cry now!

Anthony was super sweet, and didn't even tell me that he got the kids little baskets for them to open while they were there.  Nolan's target is currently nailed into our pecan tree in the backyard, and Juliette loved her little purse and basket too!  He is just so thoughtful it amazes me sometimes.

After we ate we decided it was time for some egg dying!  The kids had a good time, and we made it through with only some green fingers, so I call that a success :)  The eggs didn't look like they had a lot of color when we did them, but the color has intensified overnight.  Nolan still doesn't really believe me that pink (or red) and blue make purple, since the egg he did in those colors is more of a "periwinkle," but he will learn one day :)

Sweet Vegas

Bless her heart, she is still here, and still just as sweet as ever.  And she STILL has her little pink beanie baby bear that she got when I brought her home :)  She is almost 7 years old, and I can't believe it.  She doesn't get near the amount of attention she deserves nowadays, but we still love her just as much!

A Trip to Pullen Park

Nani and Papa came to visit us again this weekend, and it was SO nice to have a visit from them almost twice in one month!  We always have so much fun together, and this past weekend was no exception.  I did, however, put Papa to work (but only for a few hours!)

We spent the first part of our weekend at Pullen Park, and it was the perfect day.  We got there as soon as it opened, which was a great idea since the place gets nuts the later in the day you go!  Skye joined us and enjoyed being the star attraction at the park :)

The tickets are only $1 apiece, and we each were able to do some fun things with Nolan (while one person held Skye - ha).  The miniature train is too cute, and Nolan loves riding around the park and waving to everyone as we pass.

We learned from our previous visit that it is way more fun to get on an animal on the carousel that actually moves, and he decided on a horse this time.  I rode one too, and thankfully didn't break it :)

We finally got him back down the hill just to take this picture!

So cute!

We left there close to nap time, but decided to cram in one more pit stop at Cabella's before heading home.  Cabella's is basically to Garner what IKEA was to Atlanta - ha!  Nolan climbed and hid and tested everything in the store while Papa shopped for some shoes, and then it was off to home for my latest DIY project :)

Our garage was in serious need of some storage help, so Papa and I built a nice storage shelf in just a couple of hours.  Nani and Anthony kept Nolan entertained while Dad and I worked, and it was so nice to have a little project with just my dad.  It turned out super sturdy, and is of course, already full.  I see a major garage purge in our future!

It was a quick weekend, but it was just the best blend of family plus projects.  Now, if we could only talk them into moving closer...
