Stronger Than I Could Even Imagine

This kid.  He amazes me every day.  His resilience, his smarts, his sweetness.  But more than anything he is strong.  And he is brave.  He has seen so many doctors over the last couple of years, and thankfully, most visits are painless (literally speaking...).

Yesterday we had to take him to the doctor because he has had a large lymph node on his neck for a while and Anthony and I could just not take worrying about it any longer.  Long story short, he is just fine, but it did require a blood draw to be sure.

I told him, "Nolan, they are going to have to stick your finger, but just hold still and it won't hurt for long."  I was worried, because the last time he had a blood draw was over a year ago (and I think he did okay then too, but two year olds are painfully "aware" at this age!)

We all (the nurse, my mom and me) counted to three, and stick!  And wouldn't you know, he didn't even bat an eyelash.  He just sat there, watching the nurse squeeze his finger and suck up the blood in her little straw, and remained totally calm.  It just struck me at that moment that he is just such a strong, stoic little boy, and I could NOT be more proud of him.

He couldn't have been more proud of his Green Lantern Band-Aid, but then wanted to take it off two minutes later :)
