It seems that not doing this on a regular basis was a bad idea, because it has been forever and I have so much I want to remember and write about, but may not have it all!
Nolan is just 3 months shy of turning 3, and that just doesn't seem possible. He's still SO tiny, that it amazes people when he talks and acts super mature. Three just seems so old, I want him to stay 2 forever :)
Here is a bit of a run down on what my babe has been doing the last couple of months:
Eating: Still doing pretty good in this department! I have noticed that sometimes he will be picky about eating something or refuse to try something, but usually if I can get him to take one bite he sees that it is in fact yummy and will eat it :) He still loves any kind of fruit (except watermelon - of all things), and a close second is milk and CHEESE! The only way I can get through the door and change my clothes after work is if he has a string cheese to eat while I get changed and get his dinner started. I have found several recipes that make good batches that I can cook and freeze (turkey meatloaf, broccoli quinoa cups, pesto, meatballs) that have made getting him dinner quickly a much simpler task.
Also his cool hairstyle :)
Speech: He talks.so.much! I love it! I love to listen to him and Anthony when Anthony is putting him to bed - he is talking a MILE a minute right until the second he goes to sleep. Our car rides home are now filled with lots of "why" questions, which we have officially entered that stage. I love "why" questions, because it's like a bit of a challenge: how can I explain something differently to him each time for him to learn? Also, I consider it a "win" of my part if he asks "why" and I answer him and he doesn't say anything else - ha! He pretty much is talking full sentences now on everything, and I figure as he gets older will do a bit better with his "S" and "Y" words. It's funny to hear him stay "stuck," because it usually ends up "tuck!" "Yellow" is usually "lellow," but I asked his teachers about this and they said it was normal. His daycare had a speech therapist come in and interview all the kids to test their speech aptitude, and he passed with flying colors so he is just fine.
My favorite thing was the other day when we were in line at Bojangle's for me to get my daily Dr. Pepper, when he chirped up in the back with my
exact order I say every day, "Large Dr. Pepper, extra ice!" HA!
Physical: I don't think there is anything this kid can't do. He never sits still, and is a bouncing ball of energy. He flips through the playground at school, jumps off the side into the pool, and is now playing soccer at his school. We signed him up for the 8-week soccer program at his school for the summer, and I think he really likes it! We felt this was a bit more his "speed" than the original gym class he was doing. I am excited to find either a gymnastics class or some sort of karate to start him in once he turns 3. He is very coordinated, so I think he could be a great athlete.
He is still on the very small side (18 mos. clothes MAX), but that's just how he was made. Even though he hasn't really gained weight in forever, the doctors haven't seemed alarmed, and as long as he is eating healthy, I guess that's all we need!

Health: Before I jinx things, I just have to rejoice that he has been overall so healthy these past several months! He had a bit of a rough cough for about 2 weeks in the beginning of June, but it didn't progress to anything worse. I know his tubes are officially out of his eardrums and just hanging out in the ear canal, so I was afraid that we would be looking at more ear infections, but not yet! Hallelujah. He has even been to the pool on several occasions and they have "Splash day" at school every Thursday and so far, so good! It's just such a sweet relief to have a healthy boy for extended periods of time now. I did find the sole thing I am attributing a lot of our success to, and that's called a "honey patch." It's just a holistic and natural way of dealing with chest congestion that I
swear works and has been the
only thing that has allowed him to sleep through the night when he is coughing. The first time I tried it was his cough in June, and after 5 days of waking up at night, I finally discovered the honey patch and that very same night he slept through the night and every night after until his cough was gone! This last cough/runny nose I put the patch on him the very first cough I heard and he did.not.wake.up one single night!
