20 Week Ultrasound/ Appointment

Well, we made it through our gender/anatomy scan ultrasound without finding out whether Puddin' is a "he" or a "she!"  It was a close call, though.  Luckily, we listened to the advice of many a girlfriend of mine that told us NOT to look at the screen right when the technician started - just in case they landed on the "money spot" right away!  Sure enough, within the first 45 seconds, she had printed the picture of our little son or daughter - good thing we weren't looking!

We are, however, somewhat leaning towards a boy now, just since it only took a few seconds to realize what it was.  But, she looks at it all day, so she may also just be a pro at recognizing what is what :)  Anthony said everything looks like a tuna fish sandwich to him, so we are both still clueless :)

Baby was very low and head down, with its feet and hands sticking out to my right (the reason behind why I only felt movement on my right side), and it's back to my left side.  This ALSO explains the pain I have very low in my abdomen - baby's head is right there - can't wait to see what this does to my bathroom trips towards the end :)  Let's just hope it stays head down - although we have time for it to flip around, I would like to at least check that complication off the list!

Everything that they could get pictures of looked great.  Puddin' is super active, and is right on track for growth in all areas - no indication of a 12-pounder yet!  They did need a couple more shots of the heart, which they couldn't get due to baby's position, so I go back on June 13th for another ultrasound to hopefully finish those up.  Just one more chance to see Puddin', but also one last ultrasound where we will have to be super careful since we still won't have opened our secret envelope yet!

And now on to me - they did happen to notice that my placenta is very low-lying.  Meaning, it's quite close to where my cervix is (sorry for TMI).  If you want to Google it, I have marginal Placenta Previa.  Hopefully, and most likely, this situation will resolve itself once my stomach grows more.  I am in a close margin, so the doctors are not concerned with this yet.  I will be monitored more closely, and will get to have a couple of extra ultrasounds, which is always good!  But, there could be a couple of pretty serious complications if this does not clear up on its own, so prayers that everything moves to where it should be would be greatly appreciated!  I will post more on this once I know which direction (literally) we are headed.

A couple more stats:

Blood pressure: 120/80 (a bit higher than usual, because this was just after our ultrasound and I was amped up - ha).

Pounds gained: 2 (this puts me at just under 6 lbs. gained so far - phew)  Puddin' is estimated to weigh about 13 ounces, so our little one makes up almost a pound of this - crazy to believe!

Overall, we are trucking right along, and everyone is healthy - blessings all around!
