18 Months!

Little stinker pinker is 18 months old - a year AND a HALF!  Too fast.  Time has gone by too fast.  I feel like this is the crest of the hill towards 2 years old, and we will be there before we know it.  It's been a fun month and I love this age; he can understand a lot of what we say, and is just a fun, spunky little guy.

We went out of town a couple of times this past month (which I detailed in earlier posts), and I am pooped.  Even if it's only for a quick 2-day trip, the packing is insane!  It usually takes me two nights to get everything packed.  Granted, I always pack heavy, but you don't want to get caught needing something with a toddler around!

Talking:  Nolan is learning more and more words, but still actively says his usual cache of words.  He said "Skye" over Easter, and "Papa," which was so sweet.  You can tell his little mind is constantly working on words, but I wouldn't say he is really "talkative."  He is much more of an observant "doer" than a talker, and I can handle that :)

Eating:  Our normal Saturday morning routine involves eating breakfast a one of two local little cafe's in our area, and Nolan is a champ at it.  He eats his whole meal off the menu, and all of the ladies know him and love him by now.  We don't really eat dinner out, so breakfast is our main treat of the week.  When we have taken him out for dinner, we usually feed him before we go since he eats much earlier than us, and then we will let him sample whatever we are eating.  Not much has changed as far as his likes and dislikes, and he is still a great eater as long as he wants to eat!  He now pretty much feeds himself most of his meal, which is GREAT so that I can work in the kitchen and do some things while he eats!  I have to watch him, though, because his best symbol that he is done is to dump the last of his food from his plate onto the floor :)

I took this with my cell phone at Walmart...he climb INTO the candy display...good thing he didn't know they were edible too!

Sleep:  He is having longer and longer stretches of sleeping through the night, and we are SO thankful for this!  Some nights he may wake up a cry for a bit, but usually will put himself back to sleep.  Sleeping when we are out of town though is a joke, and most times he will be up in the middle of the night for a while :(  Our monitor broke over Thanksgiving, and we can only hear him now and not see him, and that drives me crazy!  I imagine we will be using that thing until he is 5 years old...  He still goes to bed at 8:30 (is asleep by then), and will make it to 6:30 during the week and 7:00 a.m. on weekends.

I had dining chairs delivered one weekend, and the boxes made for TONS of fun and monkeying around...this is Daddy getting him introduced to his new cardboard jungle gym...

And this is Nolan acting like the monkey that he is...

There is a little Tumble Gym near my office, and at the top of our activity list is to take him there one Sunday.  I know he will LOVE it, and I can't wait to see him have some fun on real gym equipment...maybe he will be a gymnast like Mommy!

Favorite things:  His favorite thing lately is still to screech or cry for no apparent reason :)  I know it's the age, but good golly - it's like his usual voice is a wail!  Then you look around thinking he has lost an arm or something, and he's just like, "hey mama, whatcha doin'?"  Silly goose.  Bubbles are still a constant favorite, and he loves being outside.  He is also starting to enjoy books more, which I am happy to see.  He will grab a book, and then "back it up" until he is close enough to you to sit on your lap - cracks me up.  He will climb on anything, which is terrifying, but exciting to see him with such strength and adventure.

And did I mention those eyes?!  I melt...
