A Fun Weekend!

We had such a great time this past weekend.  We tried to reserve the weekend for "fun" since the weekend before last we about killed ourselves in the yard!

Early Saturday morning we got up and ate breakfast at one of our usual spots before running a couple of errands.  We decided to take a quick run through the highly-anticipated Cabela's before it got so crowded that you couldn't stand it.  I have to say, it was a pretty incredible place, and I imagine it's like Disney World for some folks.  Not much of it really applied to my interests, and I made sure to stay far away from the entire HALF of the store dedicated to guns and things that kill people :)

I am sure there will be many more trips in the future for Anthony and Nolan, and I wouldn't mind going back and seeing what the in-house cafe' has to offer.  Nolan probably doesn't want me going back with him, though, because I take too many pictures :)

There was this huge mountain display at the back of the store, complete with fish tank.

Nolan was probably wearing the wrong type of hat for this establishment, but looked adorable all the same :)

I couldn't resist this one...he was in the perfect position for a "horn" shot with some sort of weird antelope-thing behind him!

I am assuming that someone killed all of these poor creatures, but I just imagined they were fakies!

Saturday evening was fun and we spent some time at a cookout with our Alien Moms.  Nolan had a great time and was pooped by the time we got home!  The weather didn't exactly cooperate for a cookout, but we managed to get some yummy burgers and hotdogs anyway.

Nolan and his staring competition with Maury...

Sunday was also all about fun and a new adventure for Nolan.  Since we had to take him out of swim lessons, we wanted to find something to do for him that would be new and fun.  Since he loves to climb on anything and everything, we took him to the Tumble Gym, which is right next to my office.  It's only $10 for a free hour of gym time, so we decided to try it out.  He had a good time, and was more interested in watching the two girls practicing there than many of the apparatus (apparati, maybe?).

His favorite part was the tumble tramp, and it brought back many memories for me and my days as a gymnast.  I wish I could still do all of those flips and things, but would probably end up breaking my neck if I tried it now!  I did manage a couple front tucks (and so did Daddy!).  Nolan took a couple of spills, and by the time we were ready to go, it looked like he was limping.  Insert terrified mama face. I knew he had fallen twice, but he had gotten back up each time.  And we couldn't really tell if it was a knee, ankle or what that was bothering him!

I felt SO nauseous at the fact that he may have been really hurt, and by the time we were finished with our snack at the restaurant next door, he didn't even want to walk!  We hoped that maybe his muscles were just tired, so Anthony took him home and got straight into a warm bath with him for almost 30 minutes.  After his bath, thankfully, he seemed to be doing much better so we felt okay with still going on the date night we had planned.

My mom agreed to babysit Nolan on Sunday evening so we could have a much-needed date night.  We only wanted a quick meal out, so it worked out well that we left when Nolan was eating dinner, and got back not too long after he went to bed.  We had dinner at a little Italian place in Clayton, and while the food wasn't anything to talk about, we had a wonderful time talking and laughing.  We only get date nights about once a month, and this one was just great.  We didn't even do anything fancy, but had great conversation and just downtime.

Overall, it was a super fun weekend with my boys, and those are just the kind of weekends we need!
