Father's Day this year was an emotional but also good one. We learned earlier in the week that my Grandma Vance was reaching her final days, so it was tough to gather our family together and try and celebrate when we had that weighing on our hearts.
I had been to visit her earlier in the week (on Tuesday/Wednesday and then on Friday), but my Dad had not gone back to see her since before then. He decided at the last minute to go see her on Saturday morning, and I am so glad that he did. We all had gathered at their house anyway, so we had plenty to do and spent the morning doing a little shopping and playing with the kids. Our plan for the later afternoon was to head to a family friend's house to play in the pool and have a cookout.
The pool was a blast and a great set-up for everyone: plenty of shade for Nolan and me, plus room for the dogs and even scuba diving gear for the kids! The kids were able to try scuba diving for the first time, and I thought that was so cool that Mike and Chris got everything out for them to try. It's not everyday you get to get scuba lessons for free :)
However, I think they have too much hair for it...haha!
Nolan enjoyed a good bit of time in the pool, and we had some awesome food. We pretty much ended our day there, and scurried home to get Nolan bathed and into bed. I was pooped, but it was a great way to celebrate all the dad's in our lives and have some fun!
Happy Father's Day to all! xoxo
