A Couple of Things Around the House

We honestly have SO much to do as far as decorating goes in the new house (I have not hung a single solitary thing on the walls), that I don't even bother to take pictures.  But, we have done a couple of things, so I wanted to at least remember those.

When we moved in, there was this dilapidated old bird feeder right by the corner of the house near the sidewalk.  I actually thought it had a lot of charm: the shingles on the roof were covered in thick green moss, and it looked like a little cottage.  It was dirty, though, and not functional at all.  Well, the last time that Dad and Leslee were in town to visit, they took it home for us and totally revamped it!  I love it - I can't wait to decorate it for Holidays and all kinds of fun stuff.  The verdict is still out as to whether I will actually "feed" birds in it...I don't want them pooping all over it :)

We also saw the most gorgeous sunset the other night.  I hate that pictures never really capture the true beauty, but you get the idea.  This was the view from our front porch (of the neighbor's house).  I also really love the way our house sits on our lot: the sun rises over the back of the house, making the front porch lovely in the morning.  It then sets on the front of our house, leaving the backyard nice and cool in the evenings - perfect for grilling!

Another thing that really stood out to us about this house was the driveway.  It's very long, straight, and flat.  When I looked at the house, I imagined Nolan learning to ride a bike on this driveway.  So far, he has had his fair amount of trips pushing his walker up and down it :)

A long walk for those little legs!

Even though it's far from what I would call "finished," the office seems to look the most put-together out of all of the rooms.  It's furnished with everything we already had, except for the curtains.  Curtains will prove to be a big deal for this house - the ceilings are so high, I can't find any decently priced curtains!  I lucked out with these from TJ Maxx, and they are 96 inches long (and you can see how much height there is still left to the ceiling).

These pictures were taken in the afternoon; the amount of natural light is amazing.  I could go all day and never have to turn on a single light.  Good thing for us - it helps off-set the cost of A/C :)
