I cannot believe it's been FIVE years since I married this man...
These past five years seem to have flown by, especially to think last year at this time we were one week away from having Nolan. This year, I have to be honest, I didn't have any expectations for a big "to do." I knew that money was tight with the move and everything else we have going on, I had already missed a good bit of work with Anthony and Nolan being sick, plus I was taking the 17th off to get ready for Nolan's party. SO, I expected to maybe see Anthony for lunch on Friday and enjoy a nice dinner out on Saturday.
Well, Friday morning rolls around, and Anthony was in no hurry to go to work. I thought it was sweet that he stuck around the help me get Nolan ready, and while I was feeding Nolan upstairs, the heavenly scent of bacon made it to my nose :) Anthony had made me breakfast, and had even stopped by Bojangle's one day to get me a Styrofoam cup to take my Dr. Pepper to work in! It was so sweet - he never fails to remember the details.
Nolan and I took off for daycare/work, and Anthony told me he would see me around 1:00 for lunch. Well, 9:45 a.m. rolled around, and I got a call from the front desk that a "package had arrived for me." I got sort of excited, thinking that maybe it was flowers! I peeked down the glass stairwell just as Anthony was setting flowers on the front desk. I immediately knew something was up! I ran downstairs and read the card that came with the flowers - it said, "everything is taken care of today - come with me for a day with just the two of us!"
In keeping with our "fortune cookie" tradition, he bought this carton and even looked up how to write/draw? the Chinese symbol for "5." I tell you, this guy thinks of everything! I ended up having a surprise mani/pedi at noon, and the place wasn't so bad for Anthony either - the salon had a full bar and Anthony got to enjoy the massage chair and a couple of drinks while I got pampered :)
We enjoyed a quick lunch of wings and fries, and then went home for a NAP :) You can tell you are parents when part of your dream day involves napping...ha! We picked Nolan up from daycare around 6:00, and there was still one more surprise for the evening - dinner.
Anthony told me that he needed to drive us, and I only became suspicious when he didn't need directions to get us to where we were going :) We ended up at my Mom and Tom's house, which is exactly where I wanted to go - they had been out of town for a week before, and we missed them!
My mom made it super special with a lovely table outside, champagne, and even our own printed menu!
It was so sweet - Nolan was able to be there, and it just was the perfect ending to the day. Nolan spent his time rearranging my mom's cabinets while he waited to eat :)
Never did I expect anything this special or so well planned, but I should have known. Anthony never misses an opportunity to make me feel loved, and always knows exactly how to make me happy. I pray for an endless amount of "anniversaries" with my one and only!
